Rules Of The Club

1.    NAME & OBJECTS
The Club shall be called Seaford & District Dog Training Club and its object shall be to instruct by elementary and advanced tuition any breed of dog. To encourage the entry, by Members, of dog shows and competitions amongst Members, and to assist the residents of the surrounding area to have well mannered dogs that will integrate into society.

2.    OFFICERS & COMMITTEE
The Club shall consist of a President, Hon. Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and a Committee of nine and an unlimited number of members.  All members of the club committee or a subcommittee must be members of the club

3.    COMMITTEE
The management of the Club shall be in the hands of the Officers of the Club and a Committee consisting of nine members.

Members of the Committee shall be eligible for re-election annually.

All officers and members of the Committee shall have full voting rights.

Meetings of the Committee shall be held as often as deemed necessary but at least every two months.

A quorum for Committee meetings shall be one Officer and five Members.

The Committee shall have the power to co-opt members on to the Committee in the events of positions becoming vacant between General Meetings.

Those co-opted shall only hold office until the next General Meeting of the Club at which an election of Officers and Committee takes place.

No individual who has been a member for less than six months may be elected on to the Committee.

4.    ELECTION OF MEMBERS

Candidates for membership of the Club shall be accepted on payment of subscription. Any Officer of the Committee has the right to refuse membership if he/she feels that a person’s membership would not be in the best interest of the Club.

THE CLUB has a list of Members and their addresses, which is available for inspection if requested by  the Kennel Club.

 5.   VOTING RIGHTS          

Each Member shall be entitled to one vote immediately upon acceptance of  membership
Postal votes will be allowed.              
Voting shall be by show of hands at a general meeting
Junior Membership is accepted until the eighteenth birthday                          
Junior Members have no voting rights.         

6.    CLUB PROPERTY
The property of the Club shall be vested in the Committee, In the event of the Club ceasing to exist, a General Meeting shall be called to decide the disposal of the Club’s assets and the outcome of the meeting notified to the Kennel Club.

7.    CLUB ACCOUNTS
The club funds shall be held in Financial Institutions into which all revenue of the club shall be paid and from which withdrawal shall be determined by the committee and ratified by the membership.
The Financial Institutions to be decided by the committee and ratified by the AGM at their next meeting following any changes.
A copy of the audited accounts for the year will be available for members’ inspection at the Annual General Meeting and a copy can be forwarded on request.

8.    SUBSCRIPTIONS
The annual subscription is to be determined by the committee and verified by the AGM at their next meeting following any changes.
A Fee is to be payable for the first dog and a fee payable for each additional dog.
Junior members will pay a lower fee for the first dog and a fee for each additional dog.
Non members may take part on two occasions on payment of the training fee for each dog, after which they must apply for membership.
Details of current fees can be obtained from the Secretary or any committee member.

No Member whose subscription is unpaid is entitled to any of the privileges of Membership and if the Member shall fail to pay outstanding subscriptions within three calendar months his/her name shall be automatically erased from the register.  Acceptance back on the register will be dependent upon a new application and payment of back arrears.

9.    EXPULSION OF MEMBERS
Any member who shall be suspended under Kennel Club Rule A42.j (4 and/or any member whose dog(s is/are disqualified under Kennel Club Rule A42.j.(8 shall ipso facto cease to be a member of the Society for the duration of the suspension and/or disqualification.  

If the conduct of any Member shall, in the opinion of the Committee of the Club be injurious, or likely to be injurious, to the character or interests of the Club, the Committee of the Club may, at a meeting, the notice convening which includes as an object the consideration of the conduct of the Member, determine that a Special General Meeting of the Club shall be called for the purpose of passing a resolution to expel him/her.
Notice of the Special General Meeting shall be sent to the accused Member, giving particulars of the complaint and advising the place, date and hour of the Meeting that he/she may attend and offer an explanation, If at the Meeting, a resolution to expel is passed by a two-thirds majority of the Members present and voting, his/her name shall forthwith be erased from the list of Members, and he/shall shall thereupon cease for all purposes to be a Member of the Society except that he/she may, within two calendar months from the date of such Meeting, appeal to the Kennel Club upon and subject to such condition as the Kennel Club may impose.

10.    FINANCIAL YEAR/ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The financial year of the Society shall be from 1st April to 31st March. The Annual General Meeting shall be held by 31st May.

11.    GENERAL MEETINGS

A General Meeting will be held to receive the report of the Committee and Balance Sheet, to elect Officers and to discuss any resolution duly placed on the Agenda of which prior notice has been given to the Hon. Secretary.  No Business shall be transacted at an Annual General Meeting unless notice thereof appears on the Agenda, with the exception of routine matters or those, which in the opinion of the Chairman of the Meeting are urgent.

Notice of a General Meeting will be given to Members by advertising said meeting in the Local press twenty one days in advance

Items are required by the Hon.Secretary 14 days prior to the meeting.

The Agenda will be circulated at the meeting.

      11a.   SPECIAL GENERAL MEETINGS

                A Special General Meeting shall be summoned by the Hon. Secretary if twelve members send a signed requisition stating 
                the subject to be discussed and requesting a Special General Meeting to do so. The Committee of the Club is also empowered 
                to call a Special General Meeting.     No business other than that detailed on the Agenda can be discussed at a Special
                General Meeting.

                Members shall be notified with a  fourteen days notice by an advert in The Local Press.

12.    AMENDEMENTS TO RULES
The Rules of the Society may not be altered except at a General Meeting, the Agenda for which contains specific proposals to amend the Rules.

Any proposed alteration to the Rules may not be brought into effect until the Kennel Club has been advised and approved the alteration.

13.    ANNUAL RETURNS TO THE KENNEL CLUB
The Officers acknowledge that during the month of January each year, Maintenance of Title Fee will be forwarded to the Kennel Club by the Treasurer for continuance of Registration and that by 31st July each year, other returns, as stipulated by the Kennel Club Regulations for the Registration and Maintenance of Title of Societies and Breed Councils and the Affiliation of Agricultural Societies and Municipal Authorities be forwarded to the Kennel Club.

The Officers also acknowledge their duty to inform the Kennel Club of any changes of Secretary to the Club which may occur during the course of the year.

14.    KENNEL CLUB FINAL COURT OF APPEAL
The Kennel Club shall be the final court of appeal in all matters of dispute.        

15.   THE CLUB shall not join any Federation Of Societies or Clubs.

16.   CUPS COMPETITIONS
Members entering Cups Competitions MUST have attended Seaford & District Dog Training Club training classes at least 12 times between each Competition.

 17.   ALL DOGS must be inoculated against
Distemper, hard pad and parvovirus and certificate produced. All dogs must be microchipped.  Handlers having dogs suffering from any infectious disease will refrain from attending training classes until such time as their dogs or premises are free from infection.  Bitches in season will be excluded under Kennel Club Rules.       

18.   ALL MEMBERS are strongly advised to Insure against third party claims arising from the conduct of their dog(s.

19.   MEMBERS who have been advised by a Trainer to advance to a higher class may stay in the class of their choice.
 but would not be eligible for Club Tests or Competitions at that particular level of Class.

20.   ANY MATTERS arising not covered by these rules shall be dealt with by the Committee as they think fit.

21.   NO PERSON whilst an undischarged Bankrupt may serve on the Committee of or hold any other office or appointment
 within a Kennel Club Registered Society.
